And in Mayajaal too they reported that all the tickets for the for the 40 shows sold out completely except a few seats for midnight 12.00 am shows.are available (as per last evening.)

Mummy 3 releases all over the world on this Friday. But in Tamil Nadu alone the movie has been put off.

Rajni gets ready to shoot Robot

SUPERSTAR Rajnikant is likely to leave for the US shortly to join the US-based production team of his Rs 1.5 billion venture Robot. This will be a sci-fi movie and stars Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai in the female lead.

She has already reported for the photo-shoot schedule. It is being directed by Shankar whose last offering with Rajnikant Sivaji - The Boss broke all box-office records.

The movie will be simultaneously produced in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and two other Indian languages besides being later dubbed into Eng lish, Japanese and Malay. After Rajnikant agrees to the final script, shooting will commence from August 15.

The extravaganza is being jointly produced by Londonbased Ayngaran International and Eros Entertainment, said a press statement.

While Rajnikant’s Kuselan is scheduled for July 31 release, he has almost completed his daughter Saundarya’s Ocher Studios’ Rs 2 billion animated production SultanThe Warrior, which has live shots of the superstar

Superstar handles Karnataka menace diplomatically through a simple letter

Friends, finally the all the obstacles of Kuselan in Karnataka has been cleared. Powerful Karanataka Film Chamber of Commerce has put a big full stop to the issue.

Actually i was worried about the hindrances earlier and was noticing the developments eagerly like all you.

But Superstar without asking apology has sorted out the issue through a simple letter. This is what "Raja Thanthiram."

Present day politics needs Superstar very much.

We could understand how Karnataka state Rajini fans were anticipating Kuselan with bated breath and a untolerable suspense over the release. So, i was praying a smooth settlement over the issue without any damage to Superstar's name.

One side fans - other side producers and distributors of Kuselan, who couldn't bear the loss crores - other side Superstar who is a demigod to his fans - other side detractors who are watching Rajini's steps carefully to trip him. Just we couldn't even imagine this. But Superstar swiftly handled the issue. Super thalaivaa. I thank KFCC and its Office Bearers who helped in Kuselan's Karnataka release.

Note: In the letter to KFCC, Superstar has not asked apology anywhere. Just a letter which was carefully written to ensure a smooth sailing of Kuselan. Below is the article regarding Superstar's letter to KFCC.

Rajnikanth urges trouble-free ‘Kuselan’ release in Karnataka

Tamil superstar Rajnikanth has written to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to ensure that his forthcoming film “Kuselan’ is released in the state without any problems since many groups were against it, alleging that he had made “anti-Kannadiga” statements. Though KFCC president and actress Jayamala has already given the nod for the movie’s simultaneous release in Karnataka Aug 1, Rajnikanth apparently doesn’t want to take any chances.

Some Kannada organisations had been demanding that “Kuselan” be released in the state only after a seven-week moratorium as Rajnikanth had hurt the sentiments of Kannadigas by supporting Tamil Nadu on a row over a drinking water project in Hogenekkal, on the border between the two states.

The superstar had joined the Tamil film industry in a daylong protest fast in April against Karnataka’s objections to the Rs.13.3 billion Hogenekkal project that is expected to benefit about three million people in two Tamil Nadu districts.

Karnataka is opposed to the project, saying its share of the Cauvery river waters will be affected.

During the protest, Rajnikanth had apparently blamed Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa for the problem, angering many Kannada activists.

The actor, in his letter to Jayamala Monday, which he has written in Kannada, stressed that he had never intended to hurt the feelings of Kannadigas by speaking at the rally.

He wrote: “I came to know that there was some bitterness among a section of Kannada people about my speech on the Hogenakkal issue. I want to say that I’m not a person to hurt feelings of other people and I’m not a person to create any difficulties for others… I have not believed in hurting others.”

Rajnikanth added that he did not want his fans in Karnataka to miss out on his film.

“I don’t want people to have any difficulty in seeing my film in Karnataka. I would appeal to you to co-operate to facilitate the release of the film in the state,” he said in the letter.

Jayamala released the actor’s letter at a press conference here.

She said: “The executive committee of the KFCC has already agreed to allow the release of the film with lesser number of prints and lesser number of theatres.”

The KFCC president had earlier also urged people to not link the Hogenakkal issue to the release of “Kuselan”, specially since producer K. Balachander was a respected film personality who had contributed to Kannada cinema as well.

Kuselan: Intro scene is just enough to watch the film repeatedly

Friends, inside sources say that P Vasu has taken tremendous efforts in Superstar's intro scene and climax.

The intro-scene is just like that you have never seen in Superstar's films and not going to see in future too. Really this kind of intro is what we expected from Shankar in Sivaji. But he disappointed us. But it is now a tough task for Shankar for Robot's intro scene.

This scene is just enough for the fans to go and watch the film umpteen times. The attached still is somewhat associated with the intro scene. Rest in silver screen.

Not exaggeration. Just tell me after you watch the film.

The music of Dasari Arunkumar's film Adivishnu is tonight at an impressive function held at Taj Deccan, Hyderabad. The special guest of the evening was superstar Rajnikanth. Others included hero's father and former Union minister Dasari Narayana Rao, D. Ramanaidu, Mohan Babu, K. Raghavendra Rao, Suresh Krishna, Bharath Parepalli (director of Adivishnu), heroine Sneha, Srihari, hero Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevita, Murali Mohan, Kaikala Satyanarayana, G. Ramprasad, N. Shankar, writer Rajendra Kumar, MM Srilekha (music director of Adivishnu), Vijayabapineedu, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, Yedidha Nageswara Rao, SV Krishna Reddy, Vadde Ramesh, Maganti Babu, Devi Prasad, Ashwini Dutt, Muthyala Subbaiah, Prabhu (Dasari's elder son), Manchu Manoj, Lagadapati Sridhar, Sowbhagya Media MD Ramakrishna Prasad, PD Prasad and others. Though it was drenching rain, the function went of cool.

Superstar Rajnikanth released the audio cassette and presented the first number to his buddy Mohan Babu. Movie Moghal Ramanaidu unveiled the audio CD, presenting it to K. Raghavendra Rao. In the wake of rumors recently that both Mohan Babu and Rajnikanth had parted, their joint presence surprised one and all at the venue.

Don't look down on anyone: Rajnikanth

Rajnikanth spoke very casually. "Dasari garu invited me to this function and I simply couldn't say no and accepted it as my duty. I am not a good orator and whatever I speak might give turn otherwise to my press people, who are very sensitive." Rajni went into reminiscence about an incident that took place 22 years ago in Mumbai, while he was working for a film, co-starring a big hero those days. "I was given a dialogue version of Hindi written in Telugu that ran for ten to fifteen minutes and was asked to transcript it. I was asked to do shots in single take. From this experience, I learnt from Dasari garu – not to look down upon anyone. I want Dasari Arunkumar to learn great qualities from his father and shine like a star. I wish you great future."

Friends, hope this is first ever Exclusive, Authentic report on Kuselan Advance Booking in Chennai. Not a table work like some crap sites. I have done my best in the time i got.

Despite first working day of the week - today Kuselan reservation opens with thundering response. Once again Superstar proved himself that he can make it even in an extended cameo appearance.

Since today was first working day, i couldn’t take full day leave in my workplace. But i somewhat managed to go to theatres in lunch hours after 3 hours permission. So, i couldn’t able to catch the reservation queue or fan fare as did for Sivaji.

Most of the theatres reported tickets “SOLD OUT” for first four days.

Let us see the status of reservation details as on 12.00 noon today as theater wise:

I went to Anna theatre for an Exclusive coverage on reservation and the response.

The theatre management and staff were in a very happy mood to see the amazing response for the advance booking.

Says Mr.Akbar, Manager, Anna Theatre (above photograph):

“Ever since our theatre was confirmed to screen Kuselan, we have been receiveing lots of enquiries regarding the film and advance booking.

After Priya (1978), we are screening Rajini sir’s movie. We are very happy to see the response today and till now tickets for four and half days have been sold and by this evening we hope for one week it will be sold out.

There’s lots of pressures from VIPs and bureaucrats and other important officials for tickets and we are accomodating our best for them. (He showed me a file of recommendation letters for tickets). It is a very tough task for us to alot tickets for all of them. Everybody wants to see FDFS. This happens only with Rajini sir’s movie. My theatre staff are much happier than management.

Today there was a heavy rush despite being a working day. If it was yesterday (Sunday), i couldn’t imagine the response. Anyway we are happy as the response is simply superb.”

We hope we will reap a good profit from the movie. Thanks to Rajini sir.

While speaking to some of my friends and blog visitors this morning, I could understand that many of you have the following questions in your mind.

Ok…let ME answer them.

1) How is the booking response compared to Sivaji?
For Sivaji all theatres reported one week full; For Kuselan it is 4 days average.

2) Why there is such a difference?
Sivaji advance booking opened on Sunday, a general holiday. Where Kuselan booking opened on Monday (first working day of the week). (Sivaji is a movie where Superstar comes in a full-fledged role.)

3) How is the pressure for tickets?
I am ready to give Rs.1000/- if any body give me a first day ticket of Kuselan in Chennai - any show is OK.

4) There’s lots of rumours and talks about 'total minutes' of Superstar’s appearance in the movie. It is confusing us.
No worry. Superstar’s total time in screen would be one hour including two songs.

5) What the pre-release reports say?
The film has strong story with Superstar’s magnetic presence with a riveting climax and thunderous comedy. Overall - the film is power packed with all necessary ingredients. And surely the film will have good run in all centres better than Sivaji. Wait and see.

6) What about some negative news we read here and there?
That is because of indigestion problem and vaitherichal. Ignore.

7) Will the film make it big than Sivaji?
Yes. Surely. The film will be liked very much both by public and fans.

Nayanthara to kick off Kuselan campaign

On Monday (July 28), Nayanthara the queen of Kollywood will officially kick off the Kuselan campaign.

She will be at the Big 92.7 FM office on Kodambakkam High Road, where she will flag off the Kuselan bus. The bus will have the mobile photo exhibition of superstar Rajinikanth.

After getting a 'U' certificate from the censors, the film is now slated for release on Friday August 1, instead of the earlier July 31.

On Monday morning the advance booking of the film will open in Chennai's 14 screens.

The printing of the film has already started. The overseas prints are expected to move out of the lab by Tuesday evening. Pyramid Saimira is expected to screen the film in nearly 300 screens across Tamilnadu.

Kuselan : Chennai and Karnataka ads & Hosur theatres

Friends, the film releases on August 1 Friday (coal in sentiment mongers face) and advance booking starts tomorrow.
Many of my friends in Bangalore and other areas are asking me about the film's release there. As of now it seems the release is not possible in Bangalore city. But those who are in Mysore, Mandya, Hasan and Coorg can have chance to see the boss in the theatres in those areas.

I have presented below today Daily Thanthi's ad regarding Karnataka release. The ad says that the film will be released in the above areas on Aug 1 and theatres are yet to be finalised.

And in Hosur, Kuselan is releasing in two theatres – Raghavendra and Lakshmi Devi.

Friends, after two decades our Boss is gracing Ega theatre in Chennai. The Telugu version of Kuselan - Kathanayakudu is all set to release in Ega theatre in Chennai on Aug 1.

The last film of Superstar that released in Ega is Velaikaaran (1987).

Staff at Ega theatre are at very euphoric mood. Seems that tickets are of high demand for Telugu version too as that of Tamil version. Am planning to watch Telugu version too on the first week itself.

Rajini bails out Sharukh Khan! - Is it true?

Why it is false?
Kuselan team knew that from beginnning itself that the film being remade in Hindi with SRK in the lead by ace director Priyadarshan. So, they never thought of Hindi version of release in dubbing. So, this news is not true. But the news today came in Deccan Chronicle also. Our blog reader Mr.Pradeep too called me and informed me the same.

150 screens in North
But Kuselan will get released in 150 North Indian screens including Mumbai as straight Tamil version without dubbing.

Rajinikanth doles Shah Rukh out of trouble

Mumbai, July 26: Rajinikanth, the superstar that he is, recently showed all his generosity for none other than the King Khan, who has been obliged by Rajini.

Rajnikant, who’s latest flick ‘Kuselan’ is all set to release worldwide on August 15, was reportedly being dubbed in Hindi, alongside Telugu. SRK got set a setback on learning this, as both ‘Kuselan’ and ‘Billoo Barber’ (an SRK production) are remakes of the Malayalam hit ‘Katha Parayumbol’. Since, the story lines of both the flicks are identical, SRK feared that if ‘Kuselan’ releases in Hindi first, then his home production will be left in lurch, as there won’t be any novelty left for ‘Billoo Barber’, which might affect its fate of the BO.

In an effort to save his home production, SRK called Rajini and requested him to postpone the release of his Hindi version. Rajni obliged and now the film shall only release in Tamil and Telugu all over the world. The Hindi dubbed version of ‘Kuselan’ will, perhaps, release but post Diwali, giving SRK a sigh of relief.

It seems that SRK has found a new friend in Rajini, as they say- A friend in need is a friend indeed, what say SRK?

TECHNICALLY speaking, the cinematographer is the first person to see a movie in the angle it is meant to be shown to the audience. And if that first viewer of the movie happens to be a big fan of the actor he’s capturing, the Superstar in this case, imagine the glee that will be in the eyes of that cinematographer. But to be honest, there’s no such glee in cinematographer Arvind Krishna, despite him being a self proclaimed Rajini fan. (Nobody escapes Rajini-ism in their childhood, he says, matter-of-factly).

If there’s anything to show that he worked for 'Kuselan', it’s a slight limp of an injured right leg, one that he hurt in the last lap of shooting for the movie, shot as a bilingual in a remarkable three months. Shooting has been tiresome, no doubt, and post-production work kept him busy till the moment I met him, in Prasad Lab, on Wednesday evening. "'Kuselan' has been a fun riot, my sixth movie actually," he explains.

He was introduced as an actor (The Danush of Operation Danush in 'Kurudhipunal') and is now working on a movie in which a song is said to honour the work of technicians ('Cinema Cinema').

Ask him about when he appears in the movie (All technicians, including Soundarya Rajinikanth who has done the special effects, will be present in the movie) and he responds, “I can assure you that I’m the only technician of the movie who didn’t do a cameo.

And that’s for no particular reason. I was just bust shooting and couldn’t face the camera at all,” he brushes it off.

The movie, the cinematographer believes, will show Pollachi, a favourite location of our filmmakers, in an altogether new, happy light. Following this, Arvind Krishna’s next is 'Poi Solla Porom', directed by Vijay and is slated for an August release. As someone who has worked with Kollywood’s youngest directors, from Selvaraghavan (7/G Rainbow Colony, Pudupettai, Kadhal Kondein) to Gautam Menon ('Pachaikili Muthucharam') and Vijay, Arvind doesn’t see P Vasu as a director of the older generation.

“It’s rare for a director to know so much about the technical side of things. And credit goes to him for finishing work on time because he is one director who exactly knows what he wants even before shoot for a scene begins.”

If it’s laurels for P Vasu, what Arvind says about the Superstar sparks of pure adulation. “Oh, Mr Rajini is a phenomenon. He moved me with his actor role in the movie. He’s always punctual, jovial on the sets, very interactive and a fantastic actor,” he explains.

“There was this assistant director who Rajini sir used to make fun of on the sets. It was in good humour but the assistant even tried hiding his face once when the Superstar appeared on the sets. Yet, Rajini spotted him and it was such fun on the sets with the duo. Sir is a phenomenon, as a hero, as an actor and as a person,” he recalls.

And the clearly bowled-over cinematographer does have good things to say about Rajini’s on-screen role in the movie too. “It’s a classic Rajini you will see, one in the glory of his vintage days. Trust me when I say this will be one of the best movies ever,” he adds.

To any of the many Rajini fans, to see the Superstar, at close quarters in his element, a leg injury will only seem a small price to pay.

Fans have started erecting vinyl banners in the theatres all over the state where Kuselan releases. As usual punch dialogues all set to rock the banners.

Restriction only on tickets; not on celebrations - Sathy clarifies

First day shows are generally taken by fan clubs and public people don't get opportunity to watch the first days shows. Theatres too expressed their concern over this. So, to make public too watch first day shows, it has been decided to restrict tickets to fan clubs. And also rumours spread that Sathy banned any form of celebrations for Kuselan. This created confusion among fans as they were planning on different ways of celebrations.

To give correct picture on above issues, Thalapathy Sathy issued a press release yesterday and clarified everything.

‘Kuchelan’ tickets to fan club restricted

CHENNAI: Looks like more people will have a chance to watch the first day, first show of actor Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Kuchelan,’ which is slated for release later this month.

A press release issued by K. Sathyanarayanan, manager, Rajinikanth Fans’ Association, said that only 50 per cent of the tickets that usually went to members of fan clubs would be given away for ‘Kuchelan’.

Theatre owners’ plea

The decision was taken after owners of theatres requested them to make tickets available to all film buffs, and not just members of Mr. Rajinikanth’s fan clubs, the release said.

Queried on how this would help, Abirami Ramanthan, president of the Film Theatre Owners’ Association, Chennai, told The Hindu: “We wanted more people from the general public to be able to see the film within first three days of the film’s release.”

“Earlier, almost all the tickets were purchased by fan clubs. So we requested them to consider this arrangement. Now the average film buff has a fair chance of catching the film on the day of its release,” he added.

Kuselan Giant Banner at Sangam Cinemas – Excl. Gallery

Friends, I don’t know whether the film went for censor certification yesterday. If not, it may go today or tomorrow.

Meanwhile Chennai theatres are gearing up to receive the Box office Boss. Movies which are purely running with lesser than 20% occupancy are to be kicked out to accommodate our Boss.

Sangam Cinemas in Chennai has placed a giant vinyl banner alongside the theatre premises. The banner is placed such in the North-East direction facing towards Central side.

A student and a PC

The banner is such a big one and it is the first ever official banner in such a size. Sangam has erected it few days before. While I was taking snaps two days before, as usual pedestrians and other motorists eagerly enquired me about the movie. A KMC student enquired about the ticket availability and exact release date so as he could take off. Not only the student, a PC who was at duty that time in that signal, gabbed with me. Later I understood that he must be a thalaivar fan.

Specialty of the banner

The above banner has a specialty. It has been erected by Sangam Cinemas and not by producer or distributor. It is rare phenomenon nowadays where theatres spend for banners. That’s our Superstar’s power.

Theatres compete heavily

Pyramid Saimira, the distributors are having tough time since many theatres are vying for prints. Apart from theatres which regularly screen movies, it has to take care of theatres which are under its control already. (Sai Mira has signed agreement with many theatres in the state to screen movies they distribute). Those theatres are also nagging them to alot a print for them. So, Saimira is in a fix. An insider from distributing circles said that the demand is equal to that of Sivaji and Saimira is really struggling to finalise the screens. Anyway, in a day or two total theatres will be finalised. And what you see in ads is not the final list. More theatres are likely to be added.

Get ready for the sentimental feast.

Official: Kuselan - July 31& Kathanayakudu - Aug 1

Friends, Kuselan (Tamil) will have a Thursday release, while the Telugu version (Kathanayakudu) will have a Friday release.

The film will be released in record number of prints 1200 worldwide breaking earlier Sivaji's record of 856 prints.

'Kathanayakudu' on Aug 1st

It is official now. The confusion over the release of Kathanaykudu has been put to rest with the announcement of its date. Producer Ashwini Dutt today (July 23rd) announced that the movie is hitting the screens on August 1st worldwide. 1200 prints are ordered for both Telugu and Tamil versions (Kuselan in Tamil) of the film. This is the highest ever prints for a South Indian movie.

Trailer released

Just week before the release, the film’s official trailer was also handed over to Television Channels today. Rajnikant plays the role of superstar in the movie while Jagapathi Babu and Meena have the prominent roles. P Vasu has directed it while G V Prakash Kumar has given the music. “Cinema Cinema..” song has already become very popular.

It remains to be seen whether this Kathanyakudu will topple the records created by Rajni’s previous film - Shivaji.

Kuselan posters decorating Chennai city; Film likely to go for censor tomorrow!

As the release date (31 July as mentioned in ads) is nearing, the producers and distributors have brought out publicity posters of the film. The posters have been pasted in nuke and corner of the Chennai city.

The poster contains silhouette image of Superstar and Pasupathy with his family. The poster is simple but striking. A good poster.

I took all these snaps on my way to workplace this morning. Wherever I PAUSE and took photos, those who are around there, used to enquire me in eager about the film. I could understand that the apart from fans, general public too are anticipating the film’s release.

Posted these images with the help of a browsing centre near my office. Since the posters are hot, it has to be served hot. Right?

Tomorrow likely to go for censor

Inside sources quote that the film is likely to go for censorship tomorrow and a clean ‘U’ certificate is expected as usual as the film is a pure family entertainer. Guess what, there’s heavy rush amidst Censor Board members to see the film for certification. Usually, each and every board member shows interest to watch only much expected movies. Otherwise, there won’t be such eagerness. But for Kuselan, each and every member has expressed their willingness to watch the film. Seems that panel members are already ready.
