குசேலன் பற்றி நேற்று ஒரு ஆங்கில தொலைகாட்சியில் வெளிவந்த செய்தியை குறிப்பிட்டே ஆகவேண்டும். நன்றாக ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் பல அரங்குகளை விட்டுவிட்டு ஒதுக்குபுறத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு அரங்கிற்கு சென்று, அங்குள்ள கூட்டத்தை மட்டும் வைத்து படம் பற்றி ஒரு முந்திரிகொட்டைதனமான செய்தியை வழங்கி அல்ப சந்தோசம் பட்டுகொண்டிருக்கிறது.ரஜினியின் ஒரு நிஜ தோல்வி படத்தை இவ்வாறு கூறினால் அதில் எங்களுக்கு எந்தவித ஆட்சேபமும் இல்லை. ஆனால், கொஞ்சம் லேட் பிக்குப் ஆகி ஆகிகொண்டிருக்கும் படத்தை இப்படி கூறு போடுவது எந்த வகையில் நியாயம்? என்னை சொல்லி என்ன செய்ய. கசாப்பு கடையில் கருணை எதிர்பார்கலாமா?
படம் திங்கள் முதல் பிக் அப் ஆகி அரங்கு நிறைந்த காட்சிகள் ஓடிகொண்டிருக்கின்றன. ரஜினி படங்களுக்கே உரிய விறுவிறுப்பான தொடர் முன்பதிவு இப்படத்திற்கு இல்லை என்று நம் அனைவரும் ஒப்பு கொள்ள கூடியது தான்.
அந்த தொலைக்காட்சி கவரேஜ் செய்ய எடுத்துக்கொண்ட ஆல்பட் திரையரங்கை பற்றி குறிப்பிட்டே ஆகவேண்டும். ஊரெல்லாம் பட்டையை கிளப்பும் படங்கள் அங்கு ஈயடிக்கும் என்று எதிர் கோஷ்டியினர் கூட ஒப்புகொள்வர். (அவர்கள் படம் கூட அப்படிதான் அங்கு ஓடியது). காரணம் ஆலபட் திரையரங்கை ஒட்டியுள்ள மாநிலத்தின் மிகப்பெரிய மது கடை. இதனால் அங்கு பெண்கள் கூட்டம் வருவதில்லை. போதாகுறைக்கு அங்கு (எழும்பூரில்) இயங்கி வந்த ஆம்னி பஸ் நிறுத்தம் கோயம்பேடுக்கு மாற்றிவிட்டனர். அதிலிருந்தே அங்கு திரையிடப்படும் படங்கள் நொண்டியடிப்பது வாடிக்கை தான். சிவாஜி கூட இங்கு நொண்டியடித்தது தனி கதை. நகரில் உள்ள அத்தனை திரை அரங்குகளையும் விட்டுவிட்டு அங்கு போய் குசேலன் பற்றிய கவரேஜ் செய்தது பல சந்தேங்கங்களை கிளப்புகிறது.
முன்பெல்லாம் ரஜினி படங்கள் என்றால் ஆல்பட், அபிராமி, உதயம், பிருந்தா, பாரத், மஹாராணி என்று குறிப்பிட்ட திரையரங்குகளில் மட்டும் தான் வெளிவரும். அரங்குகளிலும் கூட்டம் நிரம்பி வழியும். காட்சிக்கு பின்னர் கூட. ஆனால் இன்று நிலை அப்படி அல்ல.
சென்னை நகரத்தில் மட்டும் இருபதுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட திரையரங்குகள். நினைத்து பாருங்கள்.

ஆனால் கௌரவ வேடத்தில் வெளிவந்துள்ள குசேலன் - ஆல்பட், அண்ணா, சாந்தி, சத்யம், சாந்தம், வுட்லண்ட்ஸ், சங்கம், பத்மம்
கிட்டத்தட்ட மூன்று திரை அரங்குகள் அதிகம். இதில் ஆல்பட் , வுட்லண்ட்ஸ் தவிர்த்து மற்ற அனைத்து அரங்குகளிளிம் படம் அரங்கு நிறைத்து ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது. சந்தேகம் இருந்தால் மேற்கண்ட அரங்குகளுக்கே போன் செய்து கேட்டு பாருங்க.

தூங்குபவர்களை எழுப்பலாம். அப்படி நடிப்பவர்களை?

Chennai screens - a true picture!! (translation by DR Sharath Kannan)
It is must to make a note of the coverage of public response to Kuselan by an English TV News Channel. The reason being they getting satisfied by ignoring many theatres located in prominent locations in the city and going to a theatre that is located in a corner and then taking the response there as a benchmark for the response of general public to the movie Kuselan.
We have absolutely no reservations if this was done to a failed Rajini movie. But, cannot digest for the movie which is having a good run in many places. This movie is a bit of late pick-up with respect to the public response as this is a movie where Rajini is performing only a cameo and not a full-fledged role. What can we do? Can we expect kindness in a butcher's shop?
I have to mention about Albert, the theatre which was taken as a reference by that TV channel. Even the opposition camp will acknowledge that a film which is running successfully in entire city will have only a luke-warm response in this theatre. (Even their film has similar response). The reason being, a big bar present in the close vicinity of this theatre due to which the lady audiences avoid this theatre. Now, they have shifted out the Omni bus-stand from there (in Elumboor) to Koyambedu. Due to these very reasons all films screened in this theatre have a bad response. Even Sivaji had comparatively lesser response in this theatre. Ignoring many theatres from the city where the movie is running successfully and covering the news from this particular theatre raises many eyebrows!
In earlier days Rajini films used to get released only in Albert, Abhirami, Udayam, Brinda, Bharath, Maharani and few selected theatres. And so, there will be huge crowd in these. But, the situation today is different.
Just in Chennai city this film is screened in more than 20 theatres. Just imagine!
In the area surround Albert, Sivaji was released in Albert, Devi, Satya, and Saantham. A total of 4 theatres.
But Kuselan, a film in which Rajini is just performing a guest appearance, is released in Albert, Anna, Shanthi, Satyam, Saantham, Woodlands, Sangam and Padmam. A total of 8 theatres. I.e. Double the number than for Sivaji.
In these, apart from Albert and Woodlands in all other theatres are running house-full shows. If in doubt, please contact the concerned theatre personnel or administrators.
