The tale behind record sale of Kuselan audio rights

Friends, first of all i wish to thank all those who came forward to help me in my unexpected medical crisis which i said in my previous posting. Some of our visitors called me and some others have assured the necessary help. Really pleased. A few have mailed and posted comments and enquired about the same with care. Heartful Thanks again to all of you.

Those who couldn't help, no need to get embarrassed. Just your heartful prayers and good wishes are more than enough.

A special thanks to my doctor friend and blog visitor who helped me a lot in hospitalization. The surgery was performed successfully by God's grace. The victim will be in hospital ward for another week, where my parents are taking care. I am not sure whether i would be able to meet the post surgery expenses completely. Anyway, trying my level best with my friends help.

The moral that i learnt strongly in this few days of hospital atmosphere is : God comes in human form to help us if our prayers are sincere.

Moreover, I realize that these are all part and parcel of life and with God's grace we shall get relieved from the pain it gives.

Please forgive me for posting such a personal note in the blog where you come for entertainment and to shed your worries and tension for a moment.

I deleted some comments by mistake while approving. Sorry for that. I think it is from Gurdeep and Babu.

Babu, how could i contact you without knowing your mail id? Pls mail me at simple_sundar@yahoo.com

Tamil music world stunned

When i came to know about the record sale of Kuselan audio rights yesterday (12/06/08), i couldn't pass this immediately to you since i was in hospital that time.

Since most of you would have heard this or seen this news already, i enquired about it a bit more and presenting you.

The whole Tamil cinema industry is dumbstruck to know the record price of Kuselan audio rights. Because, Superstar is just appearing in a cameo role. And moreover the music director is not AR Rahman or Ilayaraja or Harris. Just a few movies old GV Prakash.

What made Kuselan music rights so hot?

I heard that there was a stiff competition to buy the audio rights among the leading music companies. Big FM which started distributing music in recent times, couldn't able to strike big since its inception as most of its releases had luke warm response only.

Learning from music market that only Rajini movies could spin a magic, Big FM (A Reliance group) decided to strike the deal with record price without giving chance to others. Since there was a tight competition the rights of the audio was pushed to astronomical price tage Rs.2.25 crores (75 lakhs higher than Sivaji). Big FM will have twin advantage. As it is running a FM channel too, they will enjoy the exclusive right to air the songs.

Meantime, traders feels that after Chandramukhi and Sivaji, only a few other music releases did well in the market. What makes Superstar's movies hot is: the sales of the audio after the release of movie and that too even after several months.

Check the attached Indian Express news today on the same.

The film has music by the comparatively new music director G.V Prakash.

According to an music industry spokesperson- " G.V Prakash's Kuselan has got an higher price for audio rights much more than what his uncle A.R Rahman's Sivaji fetched. It is only because of the magic of Rajinikanth nothing else."

Kuselan has five songs, with a Daler Mehendi number being the highlight. The others who have rendered their voice for the album include Shankar Mahadevan, Kailash Kher, Shriya Ghosal and Hariharan.

The audio will be launched on June 30 Friday in Chennai by Big Music.
