Actor Surya’s humility over ‘Superstar’ title – a recent take!

We have seen actors who hanker (alaiyo alainnu alaiyuradhu) for Tamil filmdom's most wanted title ‘Superstar’ directly or indirectly. Some attempts get leaked and some not.

But actor Surya is away from the rest. I have read in past in many interviews about his high esteem for Superstar. Now his humbleness regarding “Superstar” title has once again come into light.

Press note as Superstar Surya
Actor Surya’s Charitable trust Agaram has produced a short-film called “Herovaa Zerovaa.” Its launch was held in Chennai recently, where press people were invited.

What’s wrong…
During such events, they used to give a press note and a CD. A media friend of mine who recently turned as Superstar’s fan was there at the event to cover it. She was shocked to see the press note which read actor Surya as ‘Superstar Surya’. She couldn’t bear it and asked about this to somebody who was seen as a prominent person there. He said, “What’s wrong in that? Isn’t Surya a Superstar now?”

My friend replied, “There’s only one sun, one moon and so only one Superstar and it is Rajinikanth alone!!”

That man looked at her severely.

Surya’s reaction
Now she took this matter to Surya’s notice who was there and briefed him about the press-note misapprehension. Surya turned bitter and apologized for the mistake and immediately tore the press note into pieces and threw it away and asked somebody to bring the press note in Tamil. My friend again pointed that in Tamil version too it has been mentioned Superstar Surya. Surya tore that too and requested the media persons there not to use that press note and he will send a new one to them. He said that somebody out of curiosity prepared the press note with such a title and he will make sure that it doesn’t happen in future.

Well done Surya. Other actors should learn from him. He prevented himself from joining the vanishing stars who were touted as NEXT SUPERSTAR.

How’s Superstar’s chair built?
I know some actors who claim themselves as Superstar’s fans but making attempts behind the screens to become Superstar. Sometimes, they follow unethical ways which no Superstar fan could tolerate.

Any actor can become next Superstar. But that should be merely by their hard work and perseverance and by people's support. Not just by monetary advertisements and background promotions.

I appeal to the actors that instead of copying Superstar’s styles and mannerisms please try to emulate his character. Because Superstar’s throne is not just built by his film hits or success. It has been built by his character he sculpted over the years.

Note: I would have been more happy and grateful to Surya if he had condemned Sathyaraj for his nasty speech during Hogenakkal. Hope he does that in time to come.
