"Inch by inch there'll be punch dialogues" - minutes of Kuselan press meet

Before diving into the matter, just I wish to tell you, within a few hours of the release of official stills of Kuselan, it has become hot topic amidst our fans and others. We could hear many persons raving about the stylish and youthful look of Superstar everywhere.

Since my usual blogging time last night was completely eaten by gallery uploading, I couldn’t prepare the write-up. Now only I managed to finish little by little in pieces of time.

Simple event

Much awaited Kuselan’s first official press meet was held at Hotel Le Royal Meridien in Guindy, Chennai.

There was no much “thallu mullu” in this press meet like that of Kuselan pooja. Most of the journos came there were aware that Rajini won’t turn up. So prominent English channels were missing. (But I saw BBC)

All were waiting inside the function hall “Madras 2.” By exactly 4.15 pm P Vasu came to the venue and he greeted all reporters and PROs with a smiling face.

After a small interaction, the scribes were offered snacks and coffee with light vegetarian refreshment. (For Sivaji I think no such get together or meet arranged for the whole movie by AVM!)

After that exactly by 4.45pm the press meet started.

P Vasu casually spoke to journalists there.

From his words:

"Kuselan shooting has completed fully. Dubbing is also over. Just re-recording and CG works is remaining. Since CG alone will require 50 days – I handed over the portions to graphics department by May month itself. Hope it shapes out well.

The shoot has been completed in just 82 days. You should keep in mind that the film is bi-lingual.

The lead cast includes Superstar, Nayantar, Meena, Pasupathy, Livingston, Sundarrajan, Sonia and others. Fathima Babu and other small screen faces too there in the film.

I am making all attempts to release the film by July 25. If it doesn’t materialize, the release would be delayed further one week. That’s all. Any how, the film will hit the screens by July end. Audio will be released in a simple event like this by June 30."

After that he asked reporters to shoot questions or doubts so as he would answer it. Journos started throwing various questions regarding the movie.

How will be Rajini’s role in the film?

I have included all commercial elements in the film. Fans will love Rajini’’s role in the movie and they would cherish the film forever.

Is there punch dialogues in the film?

Inch by inch the movie has punch dialogues. This film is no different from usual Rajini film.

Initially Rajini said that he is only 25% in this film. What you say now?

If you ask him he will tell. Words from horse’s mouth will be appropriate.

Have you used any new styles or mannerisms for Rajini?

Movie by movie he is becoming youthful and handsome. That is his style and speciality. Kuselan is not exemption.

Has the shooting completed? Any portions remaining?

Shooting is completed fully. Only patch work is remaining. Patchwork is just for corrections if there is any.

About songs?

Three songs are there for Rajini. And one song which is a intro is “Cinema cinema…MGR NTR thandathu indha cinema thaan…”

Moththa boomiyaiyum 10 roobaikku kaatiyadhu indha cinemathaan

Kadvul endra oruthar eppadi iruppaarunnu sonnadhum indha cinema thaan

Veerapandiya Kattabommanaim, Marudhu paandiyum eppadi irupaangannu kaatiyadhu indha cinema thaan

In that song I have highlighted the troubles and pains of techinicians and labourers who involved in film making. I think this is a perfect tribute to Tamil cinema which is celebrating its 75 years now.

I decided that if Rajini does the song, the impact will be good and best.

About business of the movie?

Generally movies would be sold once it gets completed by showing to exhibitors and distributors. But Sai mira approached us and bought the movie just itself while the shooting was going on. I thank them. They have bought the entire film including Tamil, Telugu and overseas rights. The value is much higher. Our output is worth for that and the movie has come out very rich.

All songs have been picturised in sets alone which have been erected in crores. Only Allepey song was shot in natural location without settings. All other elements in the film involved settings only.

What about change in characters in Tamil and Telugu?

Only Rajini, Nayantara and Meena characters remain the same. All other characters differs completely from one language to other language.

Sunil is doing Vadivelu character in Telugu and Dharmavaram Subramaniam is doing Livingston’s character in Telugu….like suitable artistes will replace in Telugu cast.

Is Rajini doing dubbing in Telugu?

No. He never dubs for any movies in Telugu. Appropriate voice will add life to Rajini’s character in Telugu.

And what about the rumour that Pasupathy’s character of barber changed to conductor?

I read in media and then only I came to know about such change (laughs…)

About GV Prakash’s music ?

He has delivered his master piece. Rajini when saw GV Prakash was astonished and spell bound for a few seconds. “Ivara indha padathukku music director? Namba mudiyaliyae…wow…what a talent in this 22 years age!!” Superstar acclaimed.

Songs have shaped out extra-ordinarily well. Hope all becomes super hit.

Vasu added that to commemorate Tamil cinema’s 75 years history, a special song with all leading artistes dancing Rajini is being planned now. But no star has been approached yet. If the story requires that, surely I will approach all the stars for this.
