Superstar's charity act comes into light: Thanks to M Malar & Dinakaran

Many of us would have been floored by Superstar's support to Lawrence in his trust. As i said, if the same was done by some other actor, we would have seen a separate conference and press meet to publicize that. But we know the case of Superstar. He never publicizes charity works and he is doing lot such activities without the knowledge of third person.

He may not like publicity for his charity works. But how could we leave it just like that?? We have arranged this 'Lawrence Trust' news to appear in today Maalai Malar, Chennai. And, Dinakaran too has come up with this piece. Thanks to Maalai Malar and Dinakaran for publishing this news.
I feel Superstar's each and every charity act should be brought to public notice for a certain period, so as his detractors would shut their mouth permanently. What you say?

I bought Kuselan, just because Rajini's presence in it - Pyramid Saminathan

In a competitive bid, Pyramid Saimira, which enjoyed lump sum profits from Sivaji (they distributed Sivaji around 80 theatres in TN & 40 theatres in Malaysia) has grabbed Kuselan. Pyramid Saminathan speaks to Indian Express (30/4/2008) on its business and the expanded role of Superstar in the movie.

The interviewer has tried to frighten him quoting an absurd industry sentiment. But Saminathan has answered positively.

Cheers Mr.Saminathan. Kuselan will be a benchmark film for your company and no doubt it would pour more profits than Sivaji.

Kuselan tidings: Fans gear up to receive Superstar in Pollachi!

The below news is a combined report collected from various sources including newspapers and studio sources. Hope it is precise!!

First schedule over

Kuselan's first schedule shoot which is going on at brisk progress in Hyderabad is about to end in a day or two. Dance master Lawrence has choreographed a song where Superstar and Nayantara set dance movements. The huge sets erected in Ramoji Rao film city resembled Pyramids of Egypt - one of the seven wonders of world.

Superstar,Nayan as MGR,Jayalalitha

Inside reports say that the pyramid sets erected and makeover for Superstar and Nayantara would resemble 'Ninaithaen Vandhaai Nooru Vayadhu' song from 'Kaavalkaaran' where MGR and Jayalalitha sung the duet. MGR's appearance was like an Egypt King and Jaya's was that of a Queen. (A wonderful song!) Just try to recall the pyramid settings of that song. Kuselan's would look like that.

Pollachi gearing up to receive Superstar

Once the song completed in Hyderabad, the unit would move to Pollachi and Kerala. Meanwhile Pollachi is gearing up to receive the one and only Superstar. (Only tentative schedule for Pollachi shoot is available now. Kerala schedule is yet to come.)

For the past one month, production assistants were busy scouting locations for the shooting in Pollachi and Udumalaipet and few locations has been finalised and arrangements are in full swing.

Superstar with school children

This schedule would commence from May 2nd onwards . A scene where Superstar distributing sweets to children would be shot in a school in Amaravathy in Udumalaipet. Actor Prabhu would accompany superstar. (He's coming as a police officer who takes care of the security of Superstar)

Superstar arrives in Pollachi on 2nd May for this and innumerous fans are eagerly waiting to have a glimpse of thalaivar. It is said the security arrangements would be tight and no fans would be allowed inside the shooting venue. The travel plan of Superstar from Pollachi to Amaravathy is kept secret. (Just because Superstar won't like disrupting traffic)

Othere scenes involving Pasupathy, Meena and Vadivelu would be shot in Samthur, Puravipalayam and Vettaikaaranputhur in Pollachi taluk. (Pollachi and Udumalai friends, pls update us about the shooting and happenings)

Meanwhile reports from south and Coimbatore districts say that the fans are gearing up in mute but massive way.

Would Superstar like this??? A sincere request to our brothers!

I was shocked to see this news in yesterday’s Deccan Chronicle. I think this is the right time to pour my feelings in this regard as some others too expressed their concern over this.

“Madurai Rajini fans conduct animal procession and sacrificed goat demanding Rajini’s political foray”

1) We know how much affection these fans are keeping with thalaivar. And we never under value their love towards Superstar.

2) In fact they are FAR better than urban fans in MANY ASPECTS.
(I mean their innocence, embracing the needy, maintaining words, showing gratitude etc.etc. No offense please!)

3) We too are longing for that day – the day of Superstar’s political foray.

4) We too agree that Rajini’s political foray is the only way to end the darkness in the state.

5) We too agree that a brighter and prosperous Tamilnadu is possible only by Superstar.

BUT…..the way these fans chose to agitate and show their feelings regarding Superstar's hesitance to step in politics is really hurting fans like me.

What do these pity creatures do?

There are innumerous ways to agitate. What do these pity creatures do? How they are responsible?

Am very much affected after seeing the above news reports about fans sacrifice of goat for Rajini’s political foray. Not only me, lakhs of other fans too, have felt the same.

Moroever these activities would bring only a bad name for our dear Superstar. We are in the ages of facing several criticisms and meeting the ire of many stomach burning parties for NO REASONS. Won’t this instigate them? We have to prove them that we are far better than them and others in many aspects. They may conclude that Rajini is encouraging such activities. (The fans have said that they have informed Raghavendra Mandapam through fax about this. I wonder why there weren’t stopped. I think they must have hidden the core info of the agitation in the fax material. But i hope Superstar would not be aware of this, since he is in Hyderabad for Kuselan shoot)

There’s lots of other way

If you fans want Rajini to enter politics and want to stress the same there are lots of non-violent way to show your protest.

You can collect signatures from public, sit for hunger strike, meet Rajini and can tell your feelings, sing online petitions, conduct poor non stop feedings, mass blood donation drive etc.etc. But is it fair to behead these goats in the name of Rajinikanth?

It really made innumerous fans like me sad. Moroever, goat sacrifice is connected with religious rituals and sentiments of people. Why we should do this in the name of Rajinikanth who is common to all religions? Though at the end of the day, those goat were used for biriyani and served for people, why we should do that in the name of Superstar?

Wish Superstar to put full stop to these activities

Though we don’t want to encourage even milk abishekams for Rajini cutouts and showing camphors – we feel that is far better than these activities – since they are harmless and non-violent.

Even I saw such goat sacrifice during Sivaji’s release (check below paper scanning) and I became much upset. That time itself we wanted to come out with a request message. Now I got the more appropriate time. I hope this would trigger thoughts at least to a single person who were responsible for that.

Surely Superstar won’t like this and I hope he really puts a BIG FULL STOP to such activities.

Hope our fellow brothers stop such activities and do something which would be useful to society. If you people want Rajini really in politics, please stop such activities which may displease both the public and Rajini. Try out some society friendly mode of agitation. We will be with you there….ALWAYS.

Today Daily Thanthi says that Kuselan has been purchased by Pyramid Saimira for a whopping of 65 crores in competitive bid.

Kuselan proves the power of Superstar

The news proves that:

1) Mere presence of Superstar in a movie is enough to sell it no matter how long he appears in the film.

2) The movie is also sold in Telugu. You should keep in mind that. Because for other heroes (??!!) the Telugu business will start only when the film get released in Tamil Nadu and termed as hit. Nobody would dare to buy while the movie is in making. Kuselan has been sold in Telugu while the movie is in the stages of making itself.

And balance points over to our Arunji.....Hope he comes with adhiradi points.

Note1: In one of my recent blog posting I asked that if anybody know about the business of the movie which released its audio recently? Some of my friends mistook it as I was asking about the business of audio. No....Actually I was asking about the takers for that film. Because, in their function they touted it as a film equivalent to Sivaji and a landmark film. Crores and crores of rupees has been spent just for the audio launch which hardly found space in newspapers. Even at this stage, why there’s no news about business of the film? Though I wish them all success, what I wanted to ask is, why they are comparing with Sivaji? They should try at least match Kuselan's sales where Superstar is just appearing in a guest role.

Superstar's lending hand for Lawrence's trust for disabled

Friends, actually i saw the programme when Lawrence just finished his speech on the subject matter. So, i called some of my friends who saw it and from their words i posted it in blog. But today a few others said me that Superstar assured Lawrence that he will take care of food expenses and not the total expenses. So, i have corrected it in this post. And also answered a question which would your conscience raise immediately.

Today Raghavendra Lawrence said in Sun TV Masthana Masthana final episode that Superstar has assured taking care of all the expenses of his trust. He already said a few weeks back that Superstar called him and asked about his well being and whereabouts and also gave some assurance of help to his trust for handicapped.

Why fear? I am here!

Today, Sunday, before the beginning of the programme he said that he has a sweet surprise to the audience and his crew. "I want to reveal audience here and crores of Sun TV viewers about this sweet surprise. Last week Superstar called me and enquired about my trust for handicapped and he has said that hereafterwards he will take care of the total food expenses of the inmates and i need not worry about it. He also promised that he will extend his support irrelevant of the number of beneficiaries admitted in my trust. He said not to worry about it even if it goes to 1000 or 5000s. He has assured that till his life, he will take care of the food expenditure of my trust inmates. He also requested me not to bother about the total number of admissions each year. I thank the great Human being and my leader Superstar for his help."

Couldn't imagine other actors here

If some other actors or so called actor turned-politicians involved in this - i couldn't imagine what would have been the scene. A public meeting would be held in important part of the city to announce this and disturbing the traffic and people with 1000s of serial lights and tube lights, vinyl hoardings and huge banners. And more important - ads would appear in leading newspapers. Later in evening a press meet would be held exclusively for Gapsa Vikatan, Yellow Reporter & Jaalra Malar. Ada pongayya......

Thalaivanukku indha publicity stunt ellam theriyuma?....Valadhu kai kodukiradhu idadhu kaikku theriyatha KARNAN avaru......

Even he would have asked Lawrence not to reveal this anybody. But Lawrence has leaked it because of his conscience's voice.

Note: Actually, Superstar with his wealth, easily could take care of all expenses. But why he assured that he will take care of the food expense alone?

Yes. He could take care of all expenses with his wealth. Then it would look like Rajini running the trust and not Lawrence. And entire name and fruits would go to Rajini and Lawrence would be left in shadow who originated the idea and started the trust with his own initiative.

Moreover, poor feeding is one of the best act in charity and fruit yielding. Because anybody in this world, would utter "Enough...Enough" while having food only. Other requirements are endless. Got it?

Stiff competion for Kuselan rights - Maalai Malar

Maalai Malar has published my blog news on Kuselan's Business with some additional news i got at the eleventh hour. One of them is probable release on Sep 3 on Vinayagar Chathurthi day or at least during the first week of September. The movie would be completed by July. Meanwhile, Superstar preferred to stay in Hyderabad than rushing Chennai to watch T20. Since there are few more matches to be played in Chennai, he may visit any of them (surely).

Latest infos from Hyderabad says that his schedule has been completely disrupted because of Nayantara's collapse on the sets. She has assumed the shoot after two days break. Superstar wishes to complete the song sequence with Nayan as soon as possible which is being shot in Ramoji Rao film city now. Next week the crew is moving to the back waters of Kerala for another duet and then to Pollachi for climax.

Note: I heard somebody released their audio yesterday. Any news regarding its business?

Rajini - Kamal friendship in shambles?

Media has started cooking its own story regarding Rajini-Kamal's friendship now. Rajini's absence in Dasavatharam audio launch has triggered such thoughts.

There's no necessity for Rajini to be present in each and every function of Kamal's and also there's no need for Kamal too to be present in all of our function. If they both were presented in a function, that was due to the director or producer's thick relationship both stars. Superstar knows which one to attend and which one to skip

1) Superstar would have decided to stay away just because he didn't want to steal the limelight and deviate the function's cause. The function was for Dasavatharam and to promote the film and hero. If he participates, whenever Superstar name is uttered he may get thunderous applause (this happened in Aalavandhan audio release, where general audience went crazy when a few scenes from Baasha was shown there in the stage. Clippings from Suresh Krishna's movies were shown) and this may annoy other VIPs there. (Already Kamal was pushed next to Jackie Chan) Moreover, according to hearsays there's no good rapport between Rajini and Oscar Ravichandran. So, there are 1000 reasons for Superstar to skip the function. This should not be linked with his friendship with Kamal.

2) Since Kalaignar participated in the function, he might have skipped. Wondering? Yes. True.
Rajini used to keep away from those who rule the state always and he is very choosy to share the stage with them. He has said this some years back in a felicitation ceremony of SP Balasubramanian which was held in Music Academy Chennai. In that event, he said that he wanted to skip the event as the then Chief Minister Kalaignar was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. He also quoted the Thirukural which taught that one should not get too close to the king.

In Aachi Manorama felicitation too (which was held just after a couple days of Sivaji 175 days function) where Kalaignar was the Chief Guest, Superstar attended just because he preferred over the other function where he was supposed to attend that evening. (Tuglak annual function, where Modi was the Chief Guest)

3) Moreover, he has allotted weekend to watch 20/20 in Chennai and he didn't want to take off from Kuselan shoot in Friday. Already the schedule was disrupted because of Nayantara's collapse on the sets. He had to finish the song sequence.

Why there will be no split?

1)There are countless VVIPs who are yearning to have friendship with Superstar - if not atleast a formal chat with him. So nobody in earth would like to break the bond with him. If only Rajini decides to break away from a person - there will be such chances. But the respect and passion Rajini having with Kamal is incomparable. So, there's no such a probability.

2) In the past too we heard such 'Rajini-Kamal split' stories many times and they turned false.

Note1: You may ask "What about Sathyraj who wantedly went against Superstar?" - For me he is not in the FRIENDS list of Superstar and he is unfit for that. Actually he was in the list of "Stomach burning parties". Time will teach Sathyaraj what a big unpardonable blunder he has done.

Note2: Those who want some laugher riots regarding yesterday's audio launch are requested to read the following news from today's Times of India where it says that Jackie Chan threw some unintentional tantrums in Chennai hotel. And it reads that at one extent he asked, "Who is Bachchan? I don't know who is he!". Really funny. Bruce Lee + Jackie Chan + MGR = Superstar. Who said this?

Superstar has seen everything in life. What he brushed aside as "enough....enough" is now being enjoyed by others as rarity.

No other stars faced blunt crticisims like him and also immersed in showers of praises like him. But all are same for him. He sees no difference between bouquets and brick bats.

This FULL PAGE ad appeared in Daily Thanthi during the year 1999 and look who has given the ad. I think i don't need to reveal the reasons for giving ads like this that time. But it needs wit and wisdom for a person like thalaivar to slip away from the such act of gratifications.

What's the need of giving such ad?

Some of my friends who saw this posting, called me and asked me to brief when and at which circumstance this ad was given and also the motive of giving such a full page ad.

This ad was given during the days of Rajini 25 organised in 1999.

Oh...no...the grapes are sour!

Oscar Ravichandran who gave this ad was used to give such ads frequently that time each year. First i think he gave ad for Superstar during the Dec 12 1996. He was in his initial days of production. Consecutively he raised such ads for three years during thalaivar's birthday. He might have thought that if he gives such ads Superstar would be pleased and give his callsheet.

Ha....ha.....ha.....

It it so simple?

Superstar never encourages attitude like this. He judges persons correctly. He has certain yardstick to select a producer. You can't please him by a full page ad or an act of pleasing.

Oscar Ravi after certain period came to conclusion that giving ads for Superstar is waste and it yields no fruit. So, he stopped the ads after that and thereby failed in the test Superstar was conducting to him. (Because faith and goodwill always last long. It won't be just for 3 years)

Now you could understand how correct was Superstar in discarding him....because you know how he marketed Dasavatharam in Kalaignar tv and also how he spread talks about Anniyan after Chandramukhi's stupendous hit.

I won't expect anything for life long - Oscar Ravi

At the same time i wish to bring your notice about a bit news which i read in some magazine that time (10 years back). I didn't believe this. Anyway i wanted to present to your eyes.

//Superstar who was moved by one of such ads by Oscar Ravi, called him and asked that if he expects anything from him or does he want anything to be done for Ravi. Ravi replied immediately that he expects nothing and life long he won't expect. And giving all such paper ads because of affection he has towards Superstar.//

Vadivelu's laugher riot in Kuselan

We all know that Superstar-Vadivelu combination works great on screen and they cook a good chemistry. One of the significant reasons for Chandramukhi's hit is - the thunderous comedy by the duo especially Vadivelu. Do I need to mention how he would rock in Kuselan too? I read the following news in Thanthi a few days back as a bit news and then I collected info from various sources regarding the piece and i present it here.

Vadivelu's laugher riot in Kuselan

P Vasu has given a great importance to comedy in the script of Kuselan. During discussion they allotted considerable days for enhancing comedy elements alone. P Vasu discussed with his assitants in Palmgrove hotel, Chennai (the discussion venue) and cooked comedy parts. The scenes are framed as the way it won't deviate or damage the soul of the film.

As per the latest reports, scenes involving Vadivelu were shot in Hyderabad. Vadivelu comes as an ardent fan of Superstar in the film. When Superstar comes for shooting to his village, Vadivelu challenges his friends and relative that he would make an easy entry to the shooting spot and have a chat with thalaivar. So, he attempts to peep into the shooting as if he is a stunt artiste and finally kicked out by the security guards. The ways and attempts he makes to enter the shooting spot has been canned in a hilarious way. The team bets that the particular scene will make the audience burst out of laughter.

Note: Apart from Vadivelu, there is a big band of comedy artistes in the movie like MS Baskar, Chinni Jayanth, Varadharajan, Kavithalaya Krishnan, Mano Bala and others.

What does Superstar really thinks about stepping into politics?

It is still a million dollar question.

But the below story may answer to that billion dollar question. (Some of you might know this already. Kindly excuse me. This is for those who didn't heard the following story)

Everything changed....except...

Over the years, everything has changed. People, politics, chances....... everything. But one thing remains unchanged. That is Rajini's perception towards politics.

Why he always answers, "It is with God's hands. Not with me. I don't know what will happen tomorrow. If the destiny orders me i have to accept that" ? If you simply read the above sentence, you can't find anything. But there's lot's of meaning hidden in it.

Story translation:

When would a king turn into pauper and pauper into a king?

Once there was a king. He had everything he wished. But no peace of mind. Always uncertainty regarding his throne. (even today's politicians too)

Once during a roundup he saw a sage who was dressed in a torn outfit but was happy. He was surprised and followed that sanyasi where he entered his hut at the outskirts of the town.

There the sanyasi has his food which was brought through alms and after finishing his meal the sanyasi sat for a while for meditation. Then he slept on the bare floor. The king was awestruck by this.

I possess everything and all luxuries. But i am not able to sleep even for a while. But how come this sanyasi who lives by begging merely enjoys his slumber in a bare floor.

When the sanyasi awakes, he asks him about this and also explains his trouble despite being a king.

Sanyasi answers, "If you want to explain about this, i need to spend in your palace for a few days with all the luxuries you enjoy. And you have to arrange me whatever i ask. is it ok?"

King agrees to the sanyasi's request and takes him to his palace.

In the palace, sanyasi was given the same treatment as that of king's and the sanyasi started enjoying everything. He even asked precious jewels and wore them. Days passed. King was waiting for sanyasi's explanation. But sanyasi didn't tell anything.

Finally the king came to conclusion that he has been cheated by a pretender. He lost his patience. He decided and asked sanyasi, "You told me that you would explain my concern and grievance. But you are simply enjoying the luxuries here. When you are going to explain and what's your plan. Did you forgot where your are from?"

Sanyasi laughed.

King get irked. "Don't laugh. Please give explanation. Or else get out from here."

Sanyasi again laughed. "Dear king, am just expecting these words alone from you. From this second i am ready to renounce everything. All this luxuries and ready to go back my hut. Can u come like that?"

"Me....how's that possible?"

"That's the difference between me and you, my dear king. I don't have attachment to anything. It is the same God who created me as a sanyasi has made you a king. I trust in God and believe that all happens at his orders. "

Sanyasi continued..."Because of God's wish, i got this palace-dwelling for a few days. That's over. Now he has decided to give back me my hut-dwelling. So i am returning to my hut. Back to the same begging and bare floor. I will happily accept that. Since i sternly believe that each and everything happens because of the ALMIGHTY i don't bother about anything. I live happily."

The king understood everything.
If God decides to give something to somebody nobody could stop that. But if he denies the same nobody in the earth could provide it.

Superstar's mind and thoughts are like the above sanyasi.

Padikkathavan takes off

On a high from the success of Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Dhanush is springing back to action with Padikkathavan, the title of an 80s Rajinikanth hit. After Pollathavan, is Dhanush making it a habit of keeping titles of pa-in-law’s films? “It was totally coincidental. Actually we wanted to keep Sivaji sir’s Padikkatha Medhai as the title. But that was not available. Also the moment we announced the title Padikkathavan, the business of the film had gone up by two crores. That’s the magic of keeping Rajini sir’s titles for my films! It’s also my good time that my decisions on scripts are working in my favour,” Dhanush modestly adds. Padikkathavan has commenced shooting and the unit is leaving for their first outdoor this Friday.

Kuselan business: The hottest in Kollywood now!

Some of you have mailed me to write something on Kuselan business and its prospects, since Superstar is appearing in a guest role. I think this is the right time. The following report has been prepared by reading some weeklies and websites and inquiring some media circles and Kollywood sources. It may not be 100% accurate. However a sincere attempt, which may throw some light on the topic.

Hot....hotter....and hottest

Do you know the hottest thing being discussed in Kollywood and distributors' circle?

Is it about a grand movie scheduled to release this summer or post summer?

Or is it on a movie which had its audio release just few days back?

No....No....No.....

Then what's the hot, hotter and hottest discussion topic?

It is KUSELAN's business yaar.

What if Superstar appears in guest role?

What if Superstar appears in guest role?His mere presence will move anything Though Superstar has said that he is appearing only for 25% scenes of Kuselan and confirmed that he is only giving guest appearance - distributors are much vying to secure territories.

Corporate competition

Corporate giants like Reliance owned Adlabs, Studio Giant Gemini Studios and Distributing giant Pyramid Saimira, and Robot producer Ayngaran International are intensively competing to acquire the distribution rights of the film. Though it is understood that Superstar never wants to peep into the business of the movies he acts - it is believed that the rights will be sold only to those whom he points finger.

Above Rs.50 crores

It is estimated that combined rights for Tamil and Telugu alone would touch approximately Rs.50 crores. Other rights like FMS, Satellite, Audio and North India and Mumbai has not been included. Since Ayngaran reaped huge profits from Sivaji, Karunamoorthy doesn't want to miss Kuselan at any cost. This is the 'outright' purchase detail. For Sub-distribution almost all leading distributors want to release the movie. But if the movie is purchased by any of the giants we discussed above - they will decide to whom they shall re-sell for sub-distribution. I believe that though Kuselan budget is nearly one third of Sivaji's - it's collection would more or less match Sivaji. Am i right?

Note1: I heard that two songs sung by Shankar Maha Devan and Hariharan have been already completed for Kuselan.

Note 2: One important thing which i want to reveal is Pyramid Saimira which distributed Sivaji in many theatres in India and Malaysia tasted lumpsum profit from it (around Rs.120 crores). After that it has not been able to reap profit in any movie except Billa. In short, Post Sivaji, Pyramid Saimira has distributed more than a dozen movies and incurred heavy loss from them. (Seeman's Vaazthukkal is the utmost flop in Saimira's distribution history)

Note3: In Telugu, whoever acquire the rights would increase the price and re-sell it completely to another third party thereby tasting very immediate returns.

Note 4: The positive aspects discussed above are applicable to Superstar's movies alone. For other movies - no such questions or stories. Because concerned producers will exhaust to find at least a single worthy distributor who is ready to bet on that particular actor at least in one area and that too in MG. (Minimum Guarantee). But if you give a mike to them, they will bark aloud as if they are big shots of Kollywood. (Unsaleable kings!!)

Sivaji, above Rs.100 crores - The Hindu

Actually i didn't see it in morning as i was in a jiffy. But later in the evening while i was an extensive reading - i found this article. Hurray....a lovely article.

But i have a doubt in the following lines of last paragraph as i couldn't able to get the right meaning as said by Selva in comments section.

Surely, i would Rs.300 crores includes other projects of the studios. Here the turnover is referred as Sivaji's turnover alone. Just read again and again.

On April 9, 2008, M. Saravanan of AVM Productions completed 50 years in Tamil cinema. His long journey began in the year 1958, when he joined the studios to work under his father. He began by working as a production executive on the film Deva Piravi, which was directed by R Krishnan and S Panju. The film was released in 1960.

However, he simultaneously began his own production of the film Maamiyar mechiya marumagal, under the banner AVM Productions. The film went on to be released in 1959.

The producer is proud about the achievements of the studio rather than his own. He says, “AVM is the only production house in India who has been producing films as well as serials over the last 61 years continuously.”

The production house has completed 170 films till date, and M. Saravanan is busy with two new projects. One is the Surya starrer directed by K.V. Anand, and the other is a Telugu film which stars Santhosh of ‘appy Days fame.

The biggest hit of the producer’s career was ‘Sivaji’ which raked in a record Rs.100 crores worldwide. The turnover for the studio till date would be around Rs.300 crores. The producer M. S. Guhan signs off by saying, “My father taught me never to make a film if I did not have the complete funds in my bank account. I follow his advice till date. I also believe that a film should never be made if you know it is going to lose money.”

Note: I am one among crores who anticipate Superstar's entry to Politics and yearning for that golden day. But i don't like the way some sects of media handling that news. They spin stories in a way that any common man would get irritated of it and fans get confused of it. I am against to that only. Any magazine or paper can provide news on Rajini and his politics - but it should be true - not just a table work of a few journos - who don't like Rajini.

Rajni launched Bujjigaadu audio in Chennai

Superstar Rajnikant launched music of Puri Jagannadh and Prabhas's Bujjigaadu this evening (April 18, 2008) at special function held at Andhra Club in Chennai.

Rajnikant who hardly attends functions attended this on the request of director Puri Jagannadh. The film's main cast and crew including hero Prabhas, Trisha, Sanjana, producer K S Ramarao and music director Sandeep Chowtha graced the function. Heroine Priyamani also attended as guest. Other prominent Telugu producers who reside in Chennai like Pundarikakshyya also were present.

Rajnikant praised director Puri Jagannadh. "There are many reasons why I came to this audio launch but the primary one is because of Puri Jagannadh. I had seen his Pokiri and Chirutha and I became his fan. All the big stars are banking on him to launch their sons. That proves his mettle. Also I attended the 100 days function of Puri's Kannada film, Appu and then Late Rajkumar told me about Puri’s greatness as director," Rajnikant showered praises. He also said he is happy to be back at Andhra Club. "I have very fond memories of this club. First Puri and K S Ramarao suggested that I should launch formally at my residence but I told them it is better to launch in big way. So I am glad to be here this club again," he said.

Rajinikanth rides Kollywood like a colossus - Times of India

Times of India, Chennai edition today (18/04/2008), has come up with a brilliant two page article on Superstar with the heading "It doesn't get bigger than this"

A wonderful two page article with bytes from leading starts of Indian Cinema along with some public opinion regarding Superstar and his superstardom.

Gandhiji said "India lives in its villages." If you analyze the sentence deeply, you can find several meanings.

It is the people who in villages are real human beings - is one of the meaning it conveys. We all know rural people are ahead of urban people in many qualities including humble, harmless, active, loyal, helping intention, national integrity etc.etc.

Likewise, Superstar's rural fans are much more active and loyal than that of others. Am not saying this just because these fans are the first to bring out posters during crucial times. I have read, heard, observed and studied a lot about these fans and their affection towards Superstar.

Kulithalai (Trichy) Rajini fan Club association has brought up posters during the recent fast by thalaivar for Hogenakkal issue.

NOW some of these posters have been pasted near Film Chamber Office in Mount Road with help of LIC Unit fans of Chennai where leading producers and directors visit very often. (Idam paarthu adikiradhungradhu idhaan!!)

கலையுலக உண்ணவிரதத்தை தொலைகாட்சியில் நேரலையில் பார்துகொண்டிருந்தனர் பொது மக்களும் லட்சகணக்கான rajini ரசிகர்களும்.

நடிகர் விஜயகுமாரின் ரஜினி பற்றிய urai ரசிகர்களை உற்சாகத்தில் ஆழ்த்தியிருந்தது. (சத்யராஜின் முகம் பொறாமையில் இறுகி போயிருந்ததை சிலர் கவனிதிருப்பர்)பிறகு பேச வந்த இந்த தமிழ் வியாபாரி மேடை நாகரிகம் கூட தெரியாமல் தனது மனதில் உள்ள சாகடைகளை எல்லாம் கொட்ட டிவி பார்த்துகொண்டிருந்த மக்களும் ரஜினி ரசிகர்களும் அதிர்ச்சியில் உறைந்து போயினர். ரஜினி மிகவும் அசௌகரியமாக உணர்ந்தார்.

When Rajini fans turned furious......

During the recent fast, the whole Tamil Nadu including lakhs and lakhs of Rajini fans were hooked before the tv sets to watch the speech of Supertar.

Fans were in euphoric mood after watching the jubiliant speech of actor Vijayakumar. (one could see the face of Sathyaraj was fuming over jealousty and vaitherichal)

When Sathyaraj came made his speech he forgot that lakhs of people are watching. He simply vomitted all his ugly thoughts in the name of Tamil saviour.

Superstar faced it with brim and delivered a thundering speech which eclipsed Sathyraj's ugly speech.

Fans who were watching this on LIVE were shocked and started discussing themselves about giving a nice retaliation to Sathyaraj.

These rural fans who don't know except keeping great affection towards their thalaivar turned furious and decided to burn the effigy of Sathyaraj.

They bought permission from Police as agitation against violence in Karnataka against Tamilians. Aruppukottai Rajini Fan club president Rajamani and Secretary Suresh Kumar and others assembled near Pandhalkudi-Aruppukottai junction.

Slogans were raised against Vaattal Nagaraj, Kannada Rakshine Vedhikae president Narayana Gowda and Sathyraj.

Suddenly the eiffgy was torched.

Police became active and arrested the fan club members and kept in lockup till evening and then released.

Sathyanarayana who came to know about this immediately called the fan club members over phone and advised not to indulge in such activities and also said them that Superstar would take care of everything and need not worry.

Anyway thanks to these fans for saving the dignity of Rajinifans.

ரஜினியின் அரசியலும்; நம் பத்திரிகைகளும்!

'ரஜினி அரசியலுக்கு வருவது பற்றி தமிழக மக்கள் இப்போது என்ன நினைக்கிறார்கள்?' என்று உங்களுக்கு அடிக்கடி தோன்றுமே? ஏதோ அதற்கான என்னுடைய விடை.
'ரஜினி அரசியலுக்கு வந்துவிட்டார்' என்று சொன்னால் மக்கள் நிச்சயம் சந்தோஷபடுவார்கள்.

ஆனால் 'வருவார்', 'வருகிறார்' என்று சொன்னால் சிரிப்பார்கள். விரக்தியாக. இது தான் உண்மை. நிதர்சனம்.

பொட்டில் அடிப்பது போல் சொல்வது என்றால் "ரஜினி அரசியலுக்கு வருவார் என்பது ஜோக். வந்துவிட்டால் அது ஒரு மாபெரும் செய்தி" அவ்வளவே!

சென்னையில் ஒரு பெட்டி கடையில் பார்த்த, கீழ் கண்ட, இன்றைய, தினமலர் போஸ்டர் ஐ கூர்ந்து கவனியுங்கள். ஏதாவது உங்களுக்கு தெரிகிறதா?

ஆயிரம் ஆயிரம் உரைகள் சொல்வதை ஒரு படம் எளிதில் சொல்லிவிடும். இந்த போஸ்டர் தற்செயலாக என் கண்ணில் பட்டது. இதற்க்கு கமெண்ட்ஸ் தேவையில்லை.

சரி, இந்த செய்திகளில் எந்தளவு உண்மை? என்று உங்களுக்கு தோன்றுமே? சரியா?

என்னை பொறுத்தவரை, தலைவரின் அரசியல் பிரவேசம் ஒரு பரபரப்பான திடீர் நிகழ்வாகத்தான் இருக்குமே தவிர, இப்படி திட்டமிட்ட செயலாக இருக்காது. பின் ஏன் பத்திரிகைகள் இப்படி எழுதுகின்றன? பரபரப்புக்காகவா?

ச்சே ச்சே... அப்படியெல்லாம் இல்லை. அவர் மேல் மக்களுக்கு இன்னும் இன்னும் வெறுப்பும் சலிப்பும் வரவேண்டும் என்பதற்காக. புரிகிறதா?

Rajini in politics and our newspapers!

Friends,

You would come across this doubt very often. “What do people now think about Rajini’s political entry?”

Here’s my views on this.

If you to people “rajini has started a political party” they would become very happy.

But if you say, “He will step into politics” “He is probing the chances” etc., they will laugh at you. A laugh because of disappointment.

In short and straight shot, to say "Rajini will step into politics" is a joke. If he steps in that is a big news.

I found the following Dinamalar poster of today’s issue at a bunk shop in Chennai.

A single picture conveys easily what 1000 books fail to.

Just look at the image below and see whether you could find anything.

Now you wonder how much true this news would be?

For me, Superstar’s political entry would be a sudden decision which would create lot of furore. Not a well planned political entry.

Then why these papers write like this? Just because of creating some furore or getting some mileage for them?

No…no…it’s to make people more bitter towards Rajini’s political entry and make them to discard him permanently.

Superstar's biography is a runaway success!!

I have revealed you a few weeks back itself that the biography of Superstar - "The Name is Rajinikanth" by Dr.Gayathri Sreekanth is a best seller of 2008 in non-fiction category.

The Superstar’s recent bio has been selling well despite the criticism on the writing, style and presentation… The writer Dr Gayathri Sreekanth explains why, even as we look at how the book has fared in retail

What’s in a name, wrote the bard but when the name is Rajnikanth, there’s a lot more to it than just alphabets! Dr Gayathri Sreekanth recently launched the biography of namma superstar at a glittering function where the book was received by his daughter Soundarya. The debut writer has put in more than a year of her life, taking a sabbatical from her work to research and write this book. But the bio is receiving a lot of flak from various quarters – not the least about the quality of the work. However, despite the criticism the book seems to be a success, selling around 20,000 copies the world over. What is the problem critics have with the book and what makes it a huge retail opportunity despite the glitches?

Dr. Gayathri is clearly flustered with some of the comments she has received. But she is quick to acknowledge some of the mistakes in the book and gives her side of the picture. “There are typographical errors. But one of the main reasons for that is the short time we had for editing the book. My editor had to undergo a heart surgery just a few weeks before the launch so it was a hectic job proofing the book in within a few days for us,” she reveals. She gives us more inside information as well. “There were over a 100 trivia and Rajniisms that I had included apart from interviews with important associates and co-stars of Rajni. But the book was just growing in size so we had to abandon them,” she rues. She smiles, adding, “But of course, if some people do not agree with my style of writing, they are free to have their opinion.”

Ajay Mago, Publisher of Om Books corroborates what she says and adds, “We will be printing the errata in the next edition. We had a very short time to proofread this book and the editor was in hospital as well. But the book is a runaway success.” Mago says the figures speak for themselves. “20,000 books were printed and 7,000 more are in the offing. Bookstores, fan clubs, online sales and other vendors make up for the bulk of sales. Landmark in Chennai has sold its first batch of 1,080 copies and has ordered 500 more. Pantaloons stores have sold around 2,300 copies through the Big Bazaar outlets in India. Odyssey makes up for 1,500 copies in Chennai.”

Mago adds that even some fans and and readers gave valid pointers about the errors which have now been taken care of in the second edition. Mago is optimistic about sales in Japan and US soon. The good news is that Gayathri will be bringing out a full version of the original in Tamil. “It will be a more soulful book and carry all the information that could not be used in the first edition,” she says.

Looks like the Name is Rajnikanth is a draw with the public, the writing notwithstanding.

பிழைக்க ரஜினி; அமுக்கி வைக்கவும் ரஜினி!!

வழக்கம் போல் தமிழக பத்திரிகைகள் பத்திரிக்கை தர்மத்தை குழி தோண்டி புதைத்து விட்டன. அதாவது சொந்த விருப்பு வெறுப்புகளை செய்தியில் காட்டுவது அல்லது பொறாமை காரணமாக இருட்டடிப்பு செய்வது.

2002 ஆம் ஆண்டு ரஜினி அவரது உண்ணாவிரதத்தை அறிவிப்பதற்கு முன்பு வரை அவரை பற்றி தாறுமாறாக எழுதிய பத்திரிகைகள் அவர் உண்ணாவிரதத்தை அறிவித்து அதை வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்தி முடித்தவுடன் (அதுவும் நெய்வேலி உல்லாச பயணத்தை செல்லா காசாக்கிய பின்பு) அவரை பற்றி நன்றாக எழுத தொடங்கின. குமுதம் ரஜினியை பாராட்டி அவரை எம்ஜியாருடன் ஒப்பிட்டு தனி தலையங்கமே எழுதியது. ஜூனியர் விகடனும் ரிப்போர்டரும் "ஹீரோவக்கப்பட்ட ரஜினி" "அரசியல் சக்தியாக உருவெடுத்த ரஜினி" என்று கவர் ஸ்டோரி எழுதி உண்ணாவிரதத்தை பற்றி நல்ல கவரேஜ் கொடுத்தன. பிற பத்திரிகைகளும் அப்படியே.

ஆனால் இப்பொழுது? உண்ணாவிரதத்தை பற்றி எழுத வேண்டும். ஆனால் ரஜினிக்கு பெயர் போயிவிடகூடது என்ற வக்கிர எண்ணத்தில் செய்திகள் வெளியிட்டு வருகின்றன. அதுவும் இந்த விகடன் மற்றும் குமுதம் குழுமம் செய்கின்ற அடாவடி தங்க முடியவில்லை. மேற்படி இரு பத்திரிகைகளிலும் உண்ணாவிரதத்தை ரஜினி கைப்பற்றிய ,விதத்தை அவரது ஆவேச பேச்சை சும்மா "ஜஸ்ட் லைக் தட்" என்ற அளவில் மட்டுமே கவர் செய்துள்ளன.

அவர் வருவாரா மாட்டாரா என்று மட்டும் எழுத தெரிகிறதே? அது எப்படி? இதே ரஜினி உண்ணாவிரதத்துக்கு வரவில்லையெனில், இன்று வரை அதை பற்றி மட்டுமே மேற்படி பத்திரிகைகள் எழுதி கொண்டிருக்கும்.

இங்கு நக்கீரன் பற்றி கூறியே ஆகவேண்டும். இரு இதழ்கள் சமீபத்தில் ரஜினியை அட்டை படத்தில் தாங்கி வந்தன. ஆனால் இரு இதழ்களிலும் சத்யராஜை தூக்கி வைத்து எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதே சமயம் ரஜினியை மிகவும் உயர்த்தி விட கூடாது என்கின்ற எச்சரிக்கை தென்படுகின்றது. என்ன அக்கிரமம் இது? (நக்கீரனுக்கு ஒரு காலத்தில் சோறு போட்டதே ரஜினி ரசிகன் தான்) அட்டை படத்தில் ரஜினியை போட வேண்டும்; இளிச்ச வாய் ரசிகர்கள் வாங்குவார்கள். உள்ளே சரக்கு இல்லையென்றால் என்ன? நம்மை யார் கேட்பது? என்கின்ற எண்ணமே இதற்க்கு காரணம்.சரி. பத்திரிகைகளின் இந்த போக்கிற்கு காரணம் என்ன?

1) ரஜினி கதை முடிந்தது என்று நாமே எழுதியபின் எப்படி பின் வாங்குவது?
2) அந்த "........" நடிகரை முதல்வர் ஆக்குவது என்ற அவர்கள் லட்சியம் நீர்த்து போகும் அபாயம். (நாம் எழுதுவதால் அவர் ஆகிவிட மாட்டார் என்று அவர்களுக்கே தெரியும். பின்னர் ஏன் இப்படி எழுதுகின்றனர்? "காசேதான் கடவுளடா..."
