Titbits: Robot team expands bigger & Sultan: some expectations...

Shankar to recruit 25 associates for Robot

Shankar recruited 10 assistants - earlier for Sivaji to assist him in the making of the movie. For that, nearly thousands of young aspirants applied. Shankar who came to office on the day of the test, just gave them a knot and asked them to develop and conclude. Those who performed well in that test were recruited as assistants.

Shankar is well-known for running his team as a corporate entity. He presented the news assistants with brand new two-wheelers and mobile phones. They were all along with Superstar during the shoot of Sivaji. (Lucky guys!!)

Now he is planning to recruit - atleast a minimum of 25 persons as associates for Robot.

Now again the competition for most prestigious and sought after job in Kollywood has begun. Ever since the news leaked about recruitment Shankar’s office has been flooded with applications and he is now struggling to handle the response.

Each day he is receiving hundreds of applications.

Kollywood’s wannabe directors feel that the job is considered as most meritorious in Kollywood and its demand is that of equal to any government job. High level recommendations too pouring for the same from various bureaucrats and ruling party members and ministers. But sources say Shankar has strictly ruled out any recommendations and announced that the selection will be based purely on merit alone.

Note: Do you know that Bharathiraja’s son Manoj has already been selected as an associate. I am still wondering how he managed to get into this castle…..

Distributors & exhibitors vying for Kuselan to become Kuberan

Do you know which is the most sought movie among distributors in Kollywood now?

Do you know which movie does most theatre owners wish to screen surely?

Do you know which movie that newly emerged Multiplexes in Chennai wish to screen at any cost?

Do you which movie that thaikulams are waiting for?

It is none other than Kuselan. Kuselan alone.

As director PVasu has completed 75% of the movie till date - producer Kavithalaya and distributor Pyramid Saimira are now calculating the probable release date. It may be preponed from September to July.

As we already discussed theatre owners are busy sending signals to Pyramid Saimira that they should not be left in the list. As Saimira has its own theatres all around the state which it has acquired through lease, the regular theatres which tasted record profits from Sivaji are now afraid and now making all efforts to ensure Kuselan is gracing their theatres.

Nevertheless to mention the staff and workers belong to these theatres too offering prayers in temples for divine intervention on the same. Who would like to miss the opportunity to be a part in golden harvest?

Sultan - great expectations!!

Soundarya Rajinikanth is busy with her Ocher Studios' first animation movie Sultan The Warrior.

"The movie is getting completed at a quick pace and we're looking at finishing it by the year-end, in order to be able to release it by April 14, 2009. Work for Billa II will not begin before June 2009," she said to a local newspaper.

The cost of the movie has now touched Rs.600 million, said sources from its financier Exim Bank “The costliest movie in Indian film history is expected to generate business of at least Rs.2.25 billion going by the interest indicated by the distributors following the distribution of over 1,500 prints of its second promo in cinemas,” a source told IANS.

“It began as a small Rs.60 million venture, but the unprecedented success of Shivaji last year saw it zoom past Rs.220 million and has now touched ten times its original envisaged cost,” another source acquainted with the deal revealed.

Sources say that Ocher Studios recently included more members into the team of animation specialists and VFX artistes to speedup the making of the movie. Special recruitment drive was conducted recently for this purpose.
